I am a leadership and communications consultant with extensive experience in the charity and faith sectors.

I worked extensively as a producer for BBC TV, making daytime programmes such as First Light (BBC1) and The Heaven and Earth Show (BBC1), and also documentaries including Redah’s Big Idea (BBC1), Dot Com and Kosher (BBC1), I am a Mohel (BBC1), The People’s Nativity (BBC1) and the interview series The Big Question (BBC1).  For BBC Radio I produced documentaries including Order, Order (BBC Radio 4), I Got Up Out of My Seat (BBC Radio 4) and Permission to Parent (BBC Radio 4).

I have written and presented over 1000 programmes and short talks for radio stations including BBC World Service, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5Live. I have presented Four Thought (BBC Radio 4) and The Rhetoric of Cancer (BBC World Service). I won a Jerusalem Award in 2010 for a programme on mental health for BBC Radio 4 and another in 2012.

I am in demand as a motivational speaker and lecturer, particularly on digital culture and values. I have been a keynote speaker for the European Broadcasting Union, the Senior Leaders’ Forum of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland and the World Association for Christian Communication.

I have taught on media at numerous universities and colleges including St John’s College, Nottingham, St Mellitus, London, Cranmer Hall Durham, Ripon College Cuddesdon, Nazarene Theological College Manchester and The Venerable English College in Rome.

I have provided media and communications consultancy, including change management and crisis media management, to numerous commercial and voluntary sector bodies. High profile clients have included The Church of England, The Labour Party, The Daily Telegraph and various NHS Trusts. I have also worked with grass-roots community initiatives in Newham and Moss Side.

I have worked very substantially in the church and the voluntary sector as a consultant, especially focusing on change-management and communications strategy. Clients have included The Baptist Union, ToyBox, Cranmer Hall Durham, Retrak, Transform Newham and many others. I have provided crisis media consultancy for a wide variety of clients.

I am chair of The Charnwood Trust, a Christian educational charity based in North West England with a staff of 30. The trust runs a pre-school nursery and family centre pioneering inclusive education for children with Special Needs.

As a Gamesmaker team leader I led the team of multi-faith chaplains serving the 27,000-strong media cohort at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

I have been married for 32 years to Jane, who works with refugees and asylum seekers in Manchester. We have two adult children.
